Have you considered researching the origin of the word “BRANDING”? Well, I did and I will be starting on this note.
Branding and its necessity has been applied for many centuries now even with stories in the bible. However, the word came to be used as meaning “burning a mark onto cattle to show ownership” in the 1500’s.
In other words, branding is conferring an identity on something whilst creating a perception. A brand these days could be anything. Sometimes it’s a name/last name, a look, a logo, a taste/smell etc, as much as you can be identified.
Branding for business is how you want to be seen and identified. It’s about perception.
Moving forward, let’s establish that the impression you make on your target and/or audience is of utmost importance and a factor of sales and engagement. I have put together some reasons why branding is important.
- Branding is the first impression you make on your prospective clients and target market (People you are just meeting for the first time). You’ve heard the saying; “first impression lasts longer” right? This is just to impress on you the essence of giving your prospects something to identify you as/with and positively too. Do you know a good impression could get you a referral without that person having to have used your product or services? Branding is the combination of marketing and advertising elements to form an idea or impression in the minds of your audies. Branding is a necessity and if you don’t brand yourself you leave an opportunity for people to guess-believe anything about you or your business. One piece of advice I keep giving businesses is to build a solid branding strategy to aim for loyalty.
- With branding, you have better leverage in the market. If you can stand out for something and get recognized by it, you begin to easily gain your audience’s trust.
- It is good for your team. It makes them plan and function in the best way to produce results.
- Good branding creates an impression of expertise such that when people look at your brand, they have a feeling of trust.
- Branding when properly done provides a huge support for your advertising and marketing campaigns. Advertising techniques such as the use of promotional products from trusted companies make it easy to create a cohesive and appealing advertising strategy that plays well into your branding goals.
Agree with me that “Quality is not what happens when what you do matches your intentions but what happens when what you do matches your customers’ expectations.”
In all of this, as important as creating a good brand is, quality service is equally important.
